Resizing Techniques — Theory

Patent figures often need clean, consistent shapes — and resizing is key. This lesson covers two simple ways to adjust shape size.

Two Ways to Resize:
  • 🔲 Drag handles to resize visually
  • 🔢 Type dimensions for exact control
Both methods work well — use the one that fits your task.

Quick Resize (Drag Handles) Method

Click a shape to reveal small squares (handles).
  • Drag a corner to resize height and width
  • Drag a side to stretch in one direction
It’s fast and great for general layout adjustments.

Precision Resize (Size & Position Window) Method

For exact sizing:
  • Open View > Task Panes > Size & Position
  • Select a shape and type values for Width and Height
Perfect for keeping shapes consistent and aligned.

Why This Matters

Accurate sizing helps with layout, connector alignment, and overall drawing quality — critical for patent compliance.

Try It Yourself

Use both methods in the practice task to see what works best for different situations.
